Parts of a Refrigerator

There are not too many houses that don’t feature a refrigerator in the kitchen. It has been a must-have appliance for many years now. A household refrigerator stores food at the optimal temperature, in order to reduce spoilage and slow down bacteria. The process of refrigeration works by moving the warmth from the interior of the unit to the outside, by relying on the principles of condensation and evaporation.

The main parts of a refrigerator are. For questions or service call Select Appliance Repair:

Compressor

The compressor is both a pump and motor, and it is need for the circulation of refrigerant dispensed in the system.
The compressor is an integral part of a refrigerator. You should call on a professional service if the compressor is no longer working.

Condenser

The condenser is found on the back outside panel of the appliance and helps to emit the warmth built-up inside the refrigerator then out to the air.

Evaporator

The evaporator is located in the interior of the refrigerator where absorbs the heat held within it, thereby lowering the temperature inside the unit.

The moment the evaporator stops working, it’s time to find a professional. Do not wait until it’s too late.

Expansion Device

Liquid refrigerant is transported within a capillary tube which serves as an expansion device to cool the gas, turning the gas back into a liquid.

Thermostat

The thermostat exists to regulate the temperature inside the refrigerator, beginning a new cooling cycle when it is required.

The thermostat in a refrigerator is often prone to breaking. Troubleshoot and call a technician in CITY for service the moment an issue happens.

How Does Refrigeration Work?

1. Once the temperature inside a refrigerator goes higher than the set point sensors notify the refrigerator compressor to engage, and the cool down begins. The appliance draws in the cool liquified refrigerant, condenses and pressurizes the refrigerant, and raises the temperature, so it can turn into a gas.

2. The compressor unit directs the heated gas in the direction of the refrigerator condenser coils on the rear of the unit, at which point it comes in contact with warmer air temperature in the kitchen and reverts to a liquified form.

3. The cooled liquid continues its trip towards the evaporator, making its way through the coils in the interior of the refrigerator and top freezer compartment.

4. The liquid then absorbs the warm air from within the appliance, thereby reducing the temperature until it has reached the optimal set point.

5. The refrigerant evaporates, and turns back into a gas, and returns to the compressor unit so it can continue the cycle.

Refrigeration technology is used in quite a few applications and large appliances, including heat pumps, AC units, refrigerators and residential freezers. By extracting warmth from one place and then distributing it to another the cycle of refrigeration helps cooling your house, provides a perfect space for perishable food, and helps with the manufacturing and storage of a lot of different common products and materials.
